My Favorite Vampires

My husband calls vampire movies “horny zombie movies” and that is probably the most accurate description of the genre I’ve heard in a while.

I love vampire movies with a sharp, fiery passion. I really think it started with Interview with the Vampire but it might even go further back with The Lost Boys. Either way, since then, more horror movies featuring vampires have been hitting the cinemas and streamers and I’ve been trying to watch more since seeing Sinners in theaters and I’ve compiled my list of some of my favorite vamps.

Sinners – Elias Moore “Stack”

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, I’m sorry for your loss. Michael B. Jordan puts on one of the best performances of any horror movie I’ve seen in 2025 and that’s saying a lot. Stack is one of my favorite vamps because his manipulative and cunning personality only gets amplified when he is bitten and joins Remmick’s hive mind, making him far more dangerous than he already was. I also loved how he still kept close to Mary even after he turned.

Interview with the Vampire – Lestat de Lioncourt

Vampires sure are horny but Lestat just drips with sexuality and lust. I read the Anne Rice books when I was younger and I could feel his character drawing me in just as much as he did Louis and his other conquests. Lestat has always been one of my favorite vamps because of his soft features and violent jealousy. He could live in any time period and that’s what truly makes him scary – you never know where you’ll encounter him. Every actor that has portrayed him has been fantastic and I hope to see more of his character in the upcoming season of the AMC show.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula – Count Dracula

I absolutely fell in love with Gary Oldman in this role. Of course I read the Dracula novel but something about Gary Oldman’s portrayal of this character made me feel like – hey, maybe I would let him bite me and take me as his. This is kind of what I was looking for with 2024’s Nosferatu (my mistake lol) but the romance and longing is completely unique to this movie because of how hot Dracula is in all his outfits. Sorry hubby but if Gary Oldman Dracula comes a calling…I might just go.

Blade – Eric Brooks “Blade”

Ok, I know he’s only half a vampire but Blade deserves a spot on my favorite vamps list. When this movie first came out, it totally changed the game for me. I was always convinced that vampires had to be the villains and there was no way a vampire could come off as a hero because of their nature, but Blade showed everyone that being part-vampire made you the most equipped to defeat them. He’s such a badass and the opening club sequence in the first Blade movie proves that — no question. Wesley Snipes did a great job with this role and I hope so much that he reprises it in a full solo film.

Now, I’m fully aware there are many more vampire movies out there (and I didn’t even mention Edward Cullen from Twilight) but these are just a few of my favorites. Let me know in the comments if there’s a vamp you think I’ve missed on my list!
